One of the things that I like best about La Habana Vieja, -- the old, original section of Havana, Cuba -- is that buildings are built right up to the edge of the sidewalks, doors are often open seeming to invite one to walk in, and that one is likely to receive a warm welcome after doing so. The noise of construction attracted my attention to this building, where inside I found a group of construction workers busily mixing and pouring concrete to build a new stairway.
Except this guy. It must have been his break time, because I found him lounging on a pile of bags of construction materials. He agreed to be photographed, looked directly into my lens, and gave me an insouciant look.
