I "discovered" Theodore Roosevelt National Park while on my way to Montana in 2021, and it might be my favorite. It is not nearly as visited as our more famous parks. It has badlands every bit as spectacular as the ones in South Dakota. The Maah Daah Hey trail runs through it.

The first morning I was there I got up early intending to photograph the sunrise in the badlands, but never made it out of the campsite as a large herd of buffalo were literally blocking my way out of the campground while foraging for their breakfast.

Later that day I found this lone tree beside one of the many trails in the park.
