One summer evening I found myself at the beach in Cross Village, Michigan, watching the sun set over Lake Michigan. Slowly, serenely, a young woman moved along the water on her paddleboard. I know she is not surfing, but my mind cannot help but replay the Beach Boys song, "Surfer Girl." So accurate or not, it is the title.
