Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine is a mecca for painters, bird watchers, and seafood lovers. The island has its own lobster season and area of operation; the crustaceans are brought into the harbor where they can be purchased fresh off the boat, or as lobster rolls and other delicacies in the restaurants and shops of the island. The sign is meant to guide visitors to one such waterside shop, but to me it seems like a way to guide lobsters into the traps. Sort of like the signs that Road Runner used to trick Wiley Coyote with.
