"The best time to make a photograph is when you see it." Advice that I co-opted from another saying, but advice that has served me well over the years.

When I moved to Roanoke, Virginia and purchased a house nearby I noticed this Packard with its nose sticking out of a shed alongside the highway. I instantly knew it would make a satisfying subject for a photograph, so I tracked down the owner of the property and received permission to photograph there.

A few weeks after I made the photograph, the car was gone. The owner told me that he had been approached by a buyer, who paid cash, and sent a truck over to haul it away for restoration.
