Carbon Transfer
Before the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel was constructed between Virginia Beach and the Eastern Shore, car ferries connected the two points. As motorists drove down the road to the ferry dock, they were beckoned by this sign for the Tourinns Motor Court, where they could stop for a good meal or spend the night while waiting for their ferry crossing back to the mainland.
The ferry is long gone, as is the motor court itself. But this wonderful old modernist-style sign survives, now guiding visitors to Kiptopeke State Park back to another time.
