Carbon Transfer
The Ray's Hill Tunnel was one of several two-lane tunnels that were part of the original Pennsylvania Turnpike. Rather than rebuild the tunnels to alleviate the traffic jams they caused, the state decided to construct a new a 13-mile stretch of the highway, and abandon Ray's Hill and 2 other tunnels.
The tunnels and approaches were left as they were when abandoned in the 1960's. Nature, as she does, is slowly reclaiming them back into the environment, and they have become a canvas for graffiti artists.
